Many people love to eat canned tuna because of the health benefits associated with it. But have you ever wondered how is canned tuna made? There are some steps involved in making canned tuna.

• The tuna fish need to be frozen while they are aboard the fishing vessel. If the boat arrives at the dock, the frozen fishes are then unloaded and they are monitored on a regular basis.

• The fish are then thawed and cleaned. It is important for each fish to be checked individually and if there is one fish that don’t meet the standards of good quality, they have to be removed.

• After inspecting the fishes, they will now be pre-cooked or steamed in a large wire, basket and allowing it to cool for some time. The cooking and the cooling process are timed carefully in accordance to the fish’s type and size

• The next step is hand cleaning and inspecting each fish once again.

• The tender loins will be cut into fillets, conveying to the filling machines that prepare solid pack fish tuna. The chopper can also be used to prepare chunk style tuna.

Depending on the preferred style, the right amounts of salt, water, vegetable broth are added. The cans that were filled with the processed fish are vacuum-sealed and then cooked for a specific amount of time.
